After Twitter changed some things, Bitter was offline for a few days, but it’s back and logging in. There’s also a little thing called list support in there for ya. It’s not what you might say “fully featured” as far as you can’t add or remove people to/from lists, but you can open pre-existing lists. We’ll get that other stuff later on.

As I’m sure you already know, Twitter turned off basic authentication yesterday which broke Bitter. I had been working on OAuth support for the past few weeks, but didn’t get it all done until today. Woops!
New features:
- OAuth support… that’s it!

Yup, it’s been a long time. But don’t fret, my pet, cause v2.5 is out. Here’s all the gory details:
- Smart account selection
- Intellisense for hash tags (Just type the # and all the known hash tags will appear, just like the @ intellisense)
- F11 key docks to top and bottom of screen
- F12 key docks to closest side of screen
- Fixed a bug when Bitter crashes when you get around 8 tabs open
- Fixed a bug when the avatar image sometimes disappears
Here’s a little note about smart account selection. It only works (which will be obvious) when you are logged into more than one account. What it does is it tries to choose which accounts to send your next tweet to based on which tab you’re currently on. There’s also an option to turn it off if you don’t like it. Anyway, I think it works pretty well and it makes sense to me. Let me know what you think.

Just a minor release with some bug fixes:

- Fixed a bug with creating new groups
- Fixed a potential crash
- Ampersands can now be part of hash tags
- Couple small changes to the crash reporting mechanism
- Stretched a screen out a little since it was too small when running on Vista

Hey gang,
It’s been a little over a month since the last release, but I’ve been working hard. Here’s all the cool new stuff:
- New and improved UI overall. Almost every screen was touched up to look nicer and to make Bitter easier to learn. This includes the new pretty snazy login screen.
- Twitter search groups should be working again
- Fixed the bug with follower data not being updated correctly.
- Direct messaging is now easier and should work better.
- Ctrl+Shift+N (if it’s not already mapped on your PC) should open into New Direct Message mode.
- New crash reporting mechanism. So when Bitter crashes (as if), you’ll be able to send a crash report more easily
- Add new way to more easily resync your follower data which includes a new screen. And this time it actually works!
See ya!

It’s been a while since the last release and I wanted to get this out the door since it’s got some pretty good stuff. So here it is:
- Added groups (via UserVoice)
- Changed default number of tweets to get from 20 to 200 (the maximum). Twitter will give you more tweets for each tab on startup and on each refresh, but they may not send the full 200 even now. (via UserVoice)
- Groups and conversation tabs use less API calls when refreshing each time
- Added proxy support (via UserVoice). Please let me know if you have problems with this.
- Fixed issue with closed tabs still making sounds and not being completely closed
- Fixed issue when pasting text into the new status textbox
- Added hourly and half-hourly timeout settings for twitter tab refreshes
- Added minimize to system tray for windows 7 option
- Removed quick feedback menu item (since it was problematic)
- Fixed a color in the default Dark theme

Mostly. This is mostly a bug fix version. Here’s what I got for ya:
- There was a little memory issue with leaving Bitter open for a while. It is now fixed.
- “Reply to all” menu item for a tweet now includes reply information when sending reply
- Login dialog pops up in the center
- Main dialog pops up where it last was when closed, or in center of primary screen if the last location is no longer available (via UserVoice)
- Added Ctrl+W shortcut (via UserVoice)
If you find a bug and it’s not in UserVoice yet, please
report it! It’s likely I don’t know about it. Thanks!
